Illumination Experiences or Awakening Experiences
An illumination experience is one or more of the following three experiences. There is a wide range of intensities. An essential element of all illumination experiences is the feeling “wondrous” which, in addition to the ecstatic or glorious feelings that are more commonly shared about, demonstrates that the experience is coming from the personal unknown and not from the personal known.
Enlightenment Experience
An enlightenment experience is defined as “the wondrous experience that one’s self, one’s life, all selves and all of life is perfect.” The experience of enlightenment comes and goes. It also varies in intensity. Sometimes it is very short and sometimes it stays a while. Sometimes it is a powerful life-changing event. Sometimes it is very mild. As one transforms enlightenment experiences occur more often, last longer and become more intense. This is the feeling of "rightness" when (and if) we can say: "All is well with my soul." regardless of any and all external events or circumstances.
Self-realization Experience
The wondrous experience of the “I,” the “identifi-er” the choose-er.
God-realization Experience
The wondrous experience of relatedness. The ‘Self’ or “I” experiences itself as related or in relationship or having a relationship to another, others, all others, any other, something, any thing, all things, “All That Is,” etc. It is often referred to as the experience of unity or oneness. It is, generally, the easiest of the three to understand and the most commonly shared about.
